Important Historical Memoir

I knew Camilo. With the possible exception of Giuliano Andreotti, the long-time Italian Prime Minister, Camilo was the most intelligent and socially astute man I ever met. He was general of the Teresian Carmelites during part of the pontificate of John Paul II, when that pontiff's lack of supervision over the Curia let it degenerate into quarreling fiefdoms. Orders whose members included contemplative nuns were often the target of prelates who used them to resist the decisions of Vatican II. Camilo and his predecessor Felipe Sainz de Baranda were targets of vilification by these power brokers. Camilo's memoir, not yet available in English, records and vicissitudes of that era. This is an eloquent witness to the need for the reform instituted by Pope Francis.

Daniel J. Solove is the John Marshall Harlan Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. He is a Senior Policy Advisor at Hogan Lovells. A Good Book on the Overall Issue of Reputation Management

At first I was expecting more from this book, but as I read and gave consideration to what Solove was putting forth I realized this is a book that gives one a solid foundation from which to start with their reputation management.

I would highly recommend purchasing this book, especially in light of the flakes out their who will attempt to defraud you of meals, services, or any other goods or services by posting bad reviews if you do not give them freebies.

Engrossing, Important Book About Our Lives and Reputations in the Internet Age

Once I started The Future of Reputation, I could not put it down. The book brings alive how online gossip, social networking sites, and blogs increasingly define who we are and how were are perceived in today's Information Age. The stories it tells are, at once, laugh-out-loud funny and terrifying. We see the lives of others distorted by vengeful ex-lovers and mocked by teachers. Online commentators shine light on bad behavior to shame people. Our reputations are out of our control.

What I loved about this book is that it asks us to rethink assumptions about how we define ourselves in an age where search engines tell our story to future employers and old high-school classmates. The book helped me appreciate that online shaming plays a new and perhaps important role in shaping behavior but also has serious costs. It offers thoughtful suggestions for what we can do about these problems without sacrificing so much of what is liberating about our online interactions. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in living a full and informed life in the Internet age.

Review of the 1964 and 1967 editions

"Modern Introductory Analysis" was published in four different versions:

1. Teacher's Manual ("Teacher's Edition" is printed on the spine) - This has a separate teacher's manual (usually on green paper) at the beginning of the book along with teacher notes throughout the rest of the student text. In particular, short answers are provided as dialog to the pedagogical (Why?), which is encountered continuously in the student text. Answers to exercises are in the back of the book.
2. Student Version ("With Odd-Numbered Answers" is printed on the spine) - Answers to odd-numbered exercises are in the back of the book.
3. Student Version ("With Answers" is printed on the spine) - Answers to odd and even-numbered exercises are in the back of the book.
4. Student Version (no additional annotation on the spine) - No answers to exercises.

However, those answers in the back exclude both graphs and proofs. If you desire answers for graphs and proofs, they are included in a separate publication, viz., "Solution Key for Modern Introductory Analysis." Nota bene: the "1980 Impression" (reprint) of the Solution Key, ISBN: 0395255554, is compatible with the 1964 and 1967 editions of the text.

Though its title may suggest otherwise, "Modern Introductory Analysis" does not concern itself with epsilon-delta calculus proofs. Rather, it is a kind of pre-calculus text originally intended for high school seniors who had completed a course in Algebra II and Trigonometry in the previous year. It was the follow-on book to Dolciani's "Modern Algebra and Trigonometry Structure and Method Book 2." There is substantial overlap in the topics of these two books, although "Modern Introductory Analysis" covers them at a higher level. Other topics in "Modern Introductory Analysis" are new material, for example, mathematical induction, vectors, limits, derivatives, transformations and polar coordinates. There are > 4400 exercises. Most of the exercise sets contain at least a handful of proofs to whet your appetite. Considerable added insight is gained by doing these proofs, which serve to extend the basic material. The presentation is axiomatic. Yet, you will find a fair amount of intuitive development preceding the theorems. Some of the theorems are stated without proof, either left as exercises, or with a citation (in the Teacher's Manual) to another book containing a proof.

The 1964 and 1967 editions of the book are nearly identical. The 1964 ed. has several easy-to-spot errors that are fixed in the 1967 ed. However, be advised of certain less obvious errata in the 1964 ed. You may wish to revise your 1964 ed. as follows:

1) Exercise 36, P. 182, "T - S and P - S" should read "T - P and S - P"
2) Exercise 11, P. 312, "the length" should read "a function whose minimum is the length"
3) Exercise 12, P. 312, "what is" should read "let L be" and "(-2, 5)?" should read "(-2, 5). Find a function whose minimum is L."
4) Exercise 13, P. 312, "which for a fixed volume requires the least material (surface area)" should read "of greatest volume having a total surface area of 96π sq. cm."
5) Exercise 18, P. 313, should read "Solve Exercise 17 if triangle POQ has minimum area."
6) Exercise 34, P. 327, "b = 1" should read "b ≠ 1"
7) Exercise 14, P. 362, "log 2 (base e)" should read "log 4 (base e)"
8) Exercise 23, P. 362, "b = √a " should read "b = a� "
9) Exercise 24, P. 362, "b = �√a " should read "b = a� "
10) Exercise 42, P. 424, "csc θ" should read "-csc θ"

Great Series

This text, along with all the Dolciani books by Houghton Mifflin were the corner stones of any high school math program in the 60's-70's and early 80's. This book particularly was the book that I learned pre-calculus from, and made me become a math major. The books were literate in their context, never watered down, but not so abstract that a high school student couldn't read and follow. What makes this book so unique is the fact that mathematical induction is introduced in Chapter 3 and is carried throughout the book. No other precalculus book prior or since has used this approach. Mathematical induction is a proof driven treatment for the topics which follow. It makes the students think in a logical manner and enables them, by proof, to understand the full argument of why certain "things happen" in math as they do. The Teacher's Edition's were the best of any series (until Houghton Mifflin changed the format, and made them less teacher friendly). I still have 2 TE's of this book and the solutions key, and still refer to it when I need to...it beats any precalculus book out today. Once Dr. Dociani passed away, the entire Houghton Mifflin series went down the tubes, their current texts DO NOT hold muster to this old classic!!!

Don't be fooled by the cover.

If you're looking for unique designs like the cover.....don't expect them in between the pages. The book has a 'botanical' and 'traditional' section. The traditional section is a throwaway. If you own other glass design books you've already got this section covered and don't need another rehash of the same. The botanical section is nice but I have several cautions if you're looking to buy. 1.) The most innovative design really is the cover. It goes downhill from there, or I guess I could say more like designs you could find anywhere. 2.) a decent amount of the designs are the circle/octagons for hanging in a window. If you're into that type of thing then you won't mind but I consider those kind of dated looking. True you could adapt the design to what you need/want but I generally didn't find the book worth having. 3.) Several different 'designs' are just different adaptations of the same design. For example, there are three crab apple designs. One is a panel, one a panel for a kitchen cabinet and another a circle/octagon.

For me this just wasn't worth it. Returned. I think Ms Mahaffey should have perhaps released one of the folder like design booklets that you can find in glass supply shops that have a 3-5 designs contained within.

This is a lovely book. I only wish they would tell how much the pattern, in percents, needs to be enlarged in order to make the suggested size. .

I love this recipe book

I love this recipe book! I am a huge Master Chef fan and I collect the recipe books from all of the winners of the competition. There are many wonderful recipes in this book that I have tried and they are delicious. I would definitely recommend this book to any Master Chef fan.

I like to read this book

I like to read this book. Not only it has many good recipes I am interested to try but also I enjoy reading it and like Luca's interesting stories about his cooking and life. Those parts inspires me to read more and try to cook different cuisine that I was not familiar with.

The only thing this book could improve is, it should have more pictures for Luca's finished dishes.

That's why I give it a 4 star review.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this work was a documentary of a man's journeys--beyond.

If you are not an open-minded individual and never searching for a truth, then this experience
is not for you and would suggest staying in the comfort of your belief system, and you will awaken
when it is your time.

However--if you are like me, with a feeling, a knowing, that we are more than flesh and bones, more
than a casual thought,only to be planted in the ground and never to bloom again... Then, this candid
account by Mr. Ziewe is a must read.

Jurgen has been gracious enough to share his enlightening experiences with us, experiances that are
open to all of us, even before our time here expires.

I have only experienced this state of consciousness five or six times, and allow me to say, it is
beyond anything, anything, one can paint with words alone.

I am astounded by this book!

I can verify just a tiny sliver of what Jurgen writes. What a absolute treasure! It surpasses any religious text in existence. I've been searching for the key Jurgen revealed in this book for over 40 years. #1 Meditate in the early morning. #2 Go back to sleep and become aware while dreaming.

Accurate account of what awaits most of us after death

This book is a must read for anybody who wants to know what likely awaits us after this life is up. This book, though it's basically filled with anecdotal accounts of a single individual's experience, is still one of the most valuable reads pertaining to life after death. From my own personal accounts of what I can recall as being a few brief visitations during my dreams from a few deceased loved ones, combined with many individual accounts from various other afterlife books that I've read I really think that Multidimensional Man may be one of the most accurate books out there. In fact I've found this book to give a more detailed and accurate account of the afterlife than most other books, including even those with more scientific inquiry, and I'm generally a sceptical person concerning anecdotal experiences being entirely reliable.

This book clearly demonstrates that there are many falsehoods floating around out there, even on websites dedicated to the afterlife. The notion that 'most average decent open-minded' people will go to the third realm (Summerlands if you will) after passing on does indeed seem to be a falsehood. I don't want to be a spoiler so I will not post too much more about the book here. This book is an excellent and detailed account of the various possibilities which potentially await us in a truly multidimensional universe. After reading this book you'll realize indeed that truth is much stranger than fiction. I also like the fact that the author is not afraid to bring up subject matter many will regard as inconvenient vs feel good propaganda. I've estimated myself to have read over two hundred books about life in the hereafter, and I would easily place Multidimensional Man in the best top five.

About the Author
Gregory Drambour’s interest in the Native American culture bloomed in the California dessert sixteen years ago when he met his spirit brothers of the animal world. They led him to South Dakota, where he immediately felt at home. His experiences with teachers in that ancient land and his growing awareness that it is not what you do but how you do it that brings joy to your life, led him to wanting to share his spiritual journey with others. This is his first book.

*My close relative was personally guided by Gregory Drambour during a spirit quest experience. I had to find out for myself what this medicine did for her as she appeared changed on the inside (in the best possible way). I could not put the book down until it was finish. Recommend for the spiritual seekers who's lives are ready to be transformed. Possibly advanced or esoteric for non believers.

MURDER YET TO COME -- A Welcome Reprint Of A Prizewinner

"Murder Yet To Come" by Isabel Briggs Myers has at least three attributes that make it a 5-star read: A gripping plot; the incorporation, years before the author created the MBTI assessment instrument, of clearly recognizable Jungian-Myers personality types; and the fact that it won first prize in a mystery novel contest beating out a submission by Ellery Queen. It may not have been the first mystery to include love interest as a significant part of the plot, but the combination may well have earned her the prize. Anyone intrigued by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (r) will enjoy the clear depictions of an ISTJ, an INFP, an INTP amd am ENFP among the main characters. Although written 70+ years ago it can stand up with the best that is published today.
The story starts as a mission to rescue a damsel in distress but the duo enlisted to aid in the rescue, a playwright-amateur-detective and an off-duty police type, conclude that an apparent accident was in fact murder and the mystery is off and running.
