Review
In a superbly crafted collaboration, Schulman and Hyman draw upon their years of experience and expertise to create "Thinking On The Page: A College Student's Guide to Effective Writing", a 328 page instructional guide that is deftly organized into twelve chapters...Itself exceptionally well written and thoroughly 'user friendly' throughout, "Thinking On The Page" is very highly recommended as a reference for college and university students, and would serve non-academic aspiring writers seeking to hone and improve the quality of their writing.

It's ok.
By C. Telenko
Perhaps my expectations were too high. if you are taking humanities courses, it's useful. I don't really think it's useful for technical writing or editiorials... I think one can learn better techniques from studying design and other tools.

A guide to transforming high school and college writing
By Saphira
This book is the course we SHOULD be teaching high school students, but aren't. It builds on the 5-paragraph essay format our students already know by showing them why those essays are boring and even pointless, and how they can not only build a better essay but have more fun doing it. The process lays out critical thinking steps and how to approach a "discovery draft" to get thoughts on paper.
I only encountered this book for the first time a few weeks ago when a student brought it to me during a tutoring appointment, but I am already in love with it--and so is my student, who hates to read and doesn't like to write. He likes it a whole lot better since he started learning this approach. Kudos to the authors for a fantastic guide that is accessible and interesting even to high school students who don't like to read. If my student is any indication, Thinking on the Page is a miracle worker, and the guide that's been sorely needed at the upper high school level for some time. Anyone who works with student writers should read this book.

By Guerline Guerrier
I highly recommend this book to any student who needs extra help with essay writing. Everyone has his or her preference but I believe this book lay out a much better foundation for students than Homework Helpers: Essays & Term Papers...by Michelle McLean.
