Waay to basic - Not enoughout about dropshipping

I was hoping to learn more about finding suppliers for dropshipping and dropshipping in general. The author barley goes in to it. There is basic basic stuff about SEO and Internet in general. He's explaining what a forum is in this book at one point. I read it in about 3 hours and pulled maybe 2-3 good nuggets. That's why it gets 2 stars. Don't expect a detailed guide to dropshipping though. This is a very gerneral and casual read with a lot of fluff.

Must read for beginners selling online

Great book for those who are just beginning to sell products online. It is over 180 pages long, full of great information and resources. It covers everything from finding dropshippers, listing them online, to marketing. I would recommend this book to all those just beginning to sell products online.

Light on Dropshipping

This book is actually a good e-commerce primer. It covers many important topics like creating a good site, selling on both eBay and your own site, SEO, PPC, etc. However, it's light on some key dropshipping particulars. It needs to elaborate on how to select and apply to vendors and the obstacles they place in your path. Sometimes it's difficult for a new company to get the attention of vendors, so more advice here would be appreciated. Also, the book completely glosses over a really important issue for dropshippers: returns. Who should handle them? What's customary? As a dropshipper where can I negotiate and where am I stuck? After reading this book I have no additional insight on how to handle returns than I did before.

A final topic that merits more attention is how not to get dis-intermediated as a dropshipper. What if my suppliers have their own e-commerce effort? How can I tell if my customers are going around me? It would be valuable to know what situations to avoid initially and what early warning signs might appear if industry dynamics change.

Bottom line: some good e-commerce advice, but an incomplete guide to dropshipping.

Change for the better.

We meet Leah, a young woman who ran to get a fresh start.She comes across a safe haven for her, makes some friends and tries to move on. Then Drew comes into her life. Now Drew, I LOVE! He is HILARIOUS, charming, witty, sweet, caring,quirky, he is just the total package, you will see when you read it. He is a care free spirit and goes with the flow. He opens Leah's eyes up to new possibilities in life. Together they go on neat adventures and Leah in return starts to find out some of Drew's secrets. Can Leah move on? can Drew make Leah forget and help her move on? I guess you will have to read and find out ;-) This book is pretty amazing! Must read.

I feel in love w Drew..the way he gets Leah to try things and live on the edge. She's trying to escape her past and an ex that hurt her horribly. Drew is the all around kind of guy who lives life the way he wants and the first time he saw her he knew his life was gonna change again. There was just something about him to what she knew she could trust him. I could read this book again it was that good. We all need a Drew in our lives!!!

"The author provided me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book had me at the first page. It was fascinating to learn about Leah and her new life in Charleston, but it was even more exciting when she met the sexy Drew. Although she didn't take much notice of him to start with, once she gave in, the attraction was instantaneous - doing something about it was the difficult part!! Drew manages to get Leah to live a little and introduces her to his way of life. Can Leah escape the past that shes running from, and will she let Drew in to help her? This book is amazing and is a must read!!"

After recently becoming an amputee, I must say it is refreshing to be able to relate to some of the emotional struggles Amy goes through. This book has opened doors for me in ways I never thought could happen. Here's to spreading our wings.

Indomitable Spirit and Love of Life

I really enjoyed reading the story of Amy's triumph in both the Paralympics and Dancing With the Stars after she overcame a devastating blow to her health. She lost both legs beneath the knee and had to have a kidney replacement after suffering through a debilitating sudden bout of meningitis when she was just 19. She made her living as a masseuse and was a committed snowboarder - both of which are very physical and require you to be on your feet. After the amputation, no one knew how much of her mobility she could recover. She didn't waste a lot of time feeling sorry for herself, and even walked down the aisle at her sister's wedding less than 2 months after the amputation.

Amy's indomitable spirit and lack of self-pity comes through on every page of this memoir. I don't know how many ways there are to say "inspiring" but certainly every other reviewer has already covered this ground. Her missing legs don't define her. She wrote that "obstacles in our lives can only do one of two things: stop us dead in our tracks, or force us to get creative..." She definitely did the latter! She couldn't do anything about the loss of her legs, but she could carry on with her life with passion and creativity and that's what she chose to do.

I had missed her season on DWTS, so went to YouTube to find the videos of her performances, which were incredible. I also watched her brief, emotional TED talk. Amy has learned that "a fulfilling life isn't based on what we have or don't have; it's based on what we give of ourselves". She is a determined, energetic survivor who will continue to give.

A great book for the start of a new year

I'll begin with a confession: I've never watched an episode of Dancing with the Stars, and, until I found this book, I'd not heard of Amy Purdy. But I always look for stories of inspiring people, people who overcome obstacles to accomplish great things. I bought this book knowing nothing more about it than the description on Amazon, and I'm glad I did.

Amy Purdy writes:

"We don't always get to decide which course we go down or know which mountains we'll face. Yet we always have the most important choice there is: whether to resist, or to give ourselves over to the twists and turns of the terrain."

The wisdom in that quote is more poignant considering the mountains Ms. Purdy has faced, certainly not ones she would have chosen. But she turned her losses and her trials into opportunities to become a great athlete and person, and to inspire people all over the world.

*Spoiler alert*

The author writes of her nearly fatal meningitis, of her loss of both feet, of her kidney transplant, and of her many other `mountains,' as opportunities. She doesn't want any sympathy; she proves that she doesn't need it. From re-learning to walk, to winning an Olympic bronze medal in snowboarding, she is always strong and determined.

Ms. Purdy is not the only hero in the story. Throughout, she gives credit to the people who loved and helped her. Her parents and sister, for instance, who never left her bedside during the weeks she spent in the hospital. Amy's mother and father, and their unconditional love, devotion, and willingness to sacrifice for their children, are examples of the kind of parent we all should want and hope to be.

Ms. Purdy uses her accomplishments to help and inspire others, whether it's by traveling to South Africa to give shoes to village children, creating opportunities for other athletes, or writing this book:

"I didn't write this book because I want you to say, `Wow, look at what that girl overcame....' I'm sharing my story because I want you to see what's possible in your own life. Right here. Right now."

I'm grateful to have read On My Own Two Feet at the start of this new year. It makes me want to work harder, show more love, and be more thankful for my life and everyone in it.

An Excellent Technical Writing Textbook

I have tutored Technical Writing for several years and each course uses a different textbook. I have found this to be the best book I've used. The students find it helpful and easy to use. It is also a great resource for subjects such as resumes, cover letters, and general business communications.
