GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!

This is a great edition of Aesop. Arthur Rackham's animal faces are amazing--he catches the human problems in furry faces. Great introduction to Rackham. He caught the spirit of Aesop. My only quibble is that I have a feeling that the reproductions of the 13 color pictures are a bit brownish. There are 51 black and white drawings which are alone worth the price of the book. The book is a facsimile of the 1912 edition and the forward by G. K. Chesterton is also of great value.

Otherwise, it's the lovely Rackham illustrated edition. There have been better translations of Aesop's work, but this edition still captures the spirit of the old Greek's work. Rackham's illustrations are, as always, wonderful.

Loses a lot in translation

I purchased this book for the kids next door-and oh brother! This thing is as dry as week old toast. The language is stilted and very, for lack of a better phrase, undescriptive. Very boring and not a heck of a lot of fun. BLEECCHH!
